Prof. Given Hapunda is a developmental and paediatric psychologist in the Department of Psychology at the University of Zambia, where he has lectured for over fifteen years. His work centres on research methodologies, the design of social-behavioural interventions, and programme evaluation.
He teaches across psychometrics, research methods, developmental psychology, health psychology, sensation and perception, and evaluation, and remains active in both research and consulting.
He is the founder of Impact Managers Ltd, a consulting company established to help organisations get better results from their programmes. What began as an evaluation practice has grown into a broad-based consultancy spanning capacity building, research, and the design and management of social-behavioural interventions. In 2019 he began developing Impact Manager, a monitoring and evaluation software product aimed at problems he had seen organisations face repeatedly in their work. His team has a particular interest in applying technology to research, including tablets, online tools and real-time tracking instruments that capture data as events of interest occur.
He serves on the boards of Barefeet, a non-governmental organisation founded by former street children, and Development Workshop. He sits on the technical committee for knowledge translation of the Zambia National Health Research Authority and on the Regional Research Technical Team of the Africa Early Childhood Network (AfECN), alongside a number of committees at the University of Zambia.
