Njekwa Mate is a Lecturer in the Department of Government and Management Studies at the University of Zambia. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Zambia. His areas of research are public management, local governance, democracy, and ethnicity. His most recent publications have appeared in a book published by Bloomsbury Publishing, as well as in journals such as the African Human Mobility Review, International Journal of Research and Scientific Innovation, and the International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Sciences.

- 31 October – 2 November 2019: Presented a paper on 31st November, 2019 on: Impact of Political Science Research on Teaching Political Science in Africa at the conference on the “Political Science Discipline in Africa: Freedom, Relevance and Impact” held in Accra, Ghana by the Nordic Africa Institute, CODESRIA and African Association of Universities, held at the African Association of Universities headquarters.
- 4 - 6 November, 2015: Presented a paper on 6th November, 2015 on: Organisational Change Dynamics: The Role of Effective Leadership and People Management at the 18th Annual Convention for the Zambia Institute for Human Resource Management (ZIHRM) held at Chrismar Hotel in Livingstone.
- 9 – 10 September, 2014: Presented the following paper on 10 September 2014 in Pretoria, South Africa: Emerging Knowledge and Approaches in Measuring Democratic Quality at the Democracy Roundtable under the theme Making Gains and Counting Losses in 20 years of Democracy – A Roundtable on Perspectives on Democratic Accountability in South Africa.
