Mashekwa Maboshe is a microeconomic policy analyst with substantial research experience in fiscal policy and decentralization, energy and climate research, and poverty and inequality analysis in developing countries. Mashekwa has conducted research in South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and The Gambia and has considerable postgraduate teaching experience at the University of Cape Town, University of Zambia, and the University of the Witwatersrand.


Mashekwa has strong data analysis experience, having delivered over 10 short courses in data analysis, social policy analysis, and panel data econometrics to postgraduate students at the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. Mashekwa also has excellent facilitation skills, having delivered technical training workshops in revenue forecasting, marginal effective tax rate analysis, and social policy analysis to Ministry of Finance and National Treasury technocrats in Zambia and South Africa.


Mashekwa has consulted for institutions such as the World Bank, the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (formerly DFID), International Growth Centre (IGC), and the USAID. His academic qualifications include the following:
